영어 분석 (스티브잡스 스텐포드대학 연설문 #3)

스티브잡스 스텐포드대학 연설문 3일 차 영어분석을 시작해 본다.

This was the start in my life. And 17 years later I did go to college

But I naively chose a college /that was almost as expensive as Stanford,      순진한+ly(하게)

    단어의 본질, 속성을 이야기 할때는 관사를 사용하지 않는다. (a (the)college VS college)

     spend + ing(명사[on대상])and all of my working-class parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition.              교실, 수업, 등급, 계층              

 

과거진행수동태 (조완진수)~하는 중이었다.수업료, 학비   cf) s로 끝나는 명사의 소유격은 명사의 끝에 ’(어퍼스트러피)만 붙인다. parents’ parents’s(x)

After six months, I couldn`t see the value in it.
= I didn’t knowI had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was 

going to help me (to) figure it out.                                (무관사) 대학교육                        

figure out 알아내다 = find out (out 밖으로 보여지면 알 수 있음) And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life.           과거진행형                                                                     = whole
                                                                                평생

So I decided to drop out and trust that it would all work out OK.

It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back(,) it was (one of the best decisions) I ever made.

and begin dropping in on the ones that looked far more interesting.
